Service was Sunday at Coker Funeral Home Chapel in Decatur for Mary Ruth Abernathy, 84, of Decatur. The Rev. Lee Roy Jackson officiated. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Cullen Hinshaw, Vincent Hinshaw, Charles W. Brown, Curtis Stone, David Douglas and Bill Rosenberg.
Mrs. Abernathy, born Sept. 18, 1902 in Decatur, died Friday in a Bridgeport hospital. She was the widow of William Ira Abernathy and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Bill Abernathy of Decatur: daughter, Mrs. Walton L. Young of Sherman; sisters, Obreta Findley and Zelma Rosenberg of Bridgeport and Jewel Russell of Sunset: two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
