WINSTON-SALEM - Mrs. Jane High Burnett, 88, of Winston-Salem died Friday, February 13, 2009 at the Oaks at Forsyth. She was born October 7, 1920 in Wilmington, the daughter of the late Dr. D. P. High and Jeanette Poag High. Mrs. Burnett was a former member of Winter Park Baptist Church in Wilmington and was retired from Belk-Beery. She was presently a member of Ardmore Baptist Church where she was active in the Senior Citizens Club and a member of the Sr. Adult Choir. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Edward Burnett. Survivors include one daughter, Linda B. Crouse and husband, Foy E. Crouse, Sr. of Winston-Salem; four grandsons, Gene Crouse of Winston-Salem, Steve Crouse and wife, Sheila of Apex, Dr. David Crouse and wife, Shannon of Raleigh and Richard Crouse and wife, Anna of Spruce Pine; nine great grandchildren, Ashley, Brittany and Jason of Winston-Salem, Alex and Daniel of Apex, Sullivan and Sidney of Raleigh and Jonah and Sam of Spruce Pine. The funeral service will be conducted Tuesday at 3:00 pm at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Ty Talton and Rev. Christa Warise officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:45 pm at the funeral home. A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at Oleander Memorial Gardens in Wilmington with Roman Gabriel, III and Rev. Mark Teachey officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service at Winter Park Baptist Church from 1:00 until 2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ardmore Baptist Church Sr. Citizens Club, 501 Miller Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or Winter Park Baptist Church Sr. Citizens Club, 4700 Wrightsville Ave., Wilmington, NC 28403. The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff at The Oaks at Forsyth for the love and care given to Mrs. Burnett during the past five years.
