Mrs. Jorgen Anderson
Washington Is. -— Funeral services were held last week Monday from the Trinity Lutheran church for Mrs. Mette Christine Anderson, 88, who died at her home from, old age Jan. 4. She had been failing for the past five months.
The Rev. Edwin Svendsen officiated and the church choir sang. Harold Koyen, Maynard, Irwin and Clifford Gunnlaugsson, and Victor and Richard Anderson served as pallbearers, and interment was in the Washington Island cemetery.
Mrs. Anderson, whose maiden name was Bartel, was born in Denmark Sept. 27, 1856. She married Jorgen Anderson there in 1875, and in 1887 with five children, they came to America and settled on the island. She is survived by eight children, all of whom live here. They are Mary Koyen, Berthta and Christine Gunnlaugsson and Martin, Anton, Maurice, Christian and Conrad Anderson. Also surviving are 24 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
Harvey and Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Gunnlaugsson came to attend the funeral.
