WASHINGTON IS. -- Maurice Anderson, 63 died in Chicago, last Sunday at the Lutheran Deaconess hospital, following a 10 day illness. The son of Mr. and Mrs. George Anderson was born Dec. 21, 1887 on Washington Island. He was married to Dagmar Gunnlaugsson here Nov. 5, 1913.

During his lifetime, Mr. Anderson was engaged in farming, and he served as a member of the school board. For 18 years, he was engaged in road construction. In his latter years, he served as road supervisor.

Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Bennett (Phyllis) Hagen of Chicago, two sons, Richard, Milwaukee, and Gordon, Waukesha; four brothers Martin, Anton, Christian and Conrad Anderson, all of Washington Island; three sisters, Mrs. August (Mary) Koyen, Mrs. Steve (Bertha) Gunnlaugsson, and Mrs. Magnus (Christina) Gunnlaugsson, all of Washington Island and four grandchildren. One daughter preceded him in death.

Services were held Wednesday from the Lutheran church here, with the Rev. Lyle Paulsen officiating. During the service Mrs. Dale Bjarnarson and Mrs. Harold Grunfelt provided the music. Burial was at the Island cemetery. Harvey, Raymond, Ervin and Russell Gunnlaugsson, Harold Koyen and Victor Anderson served as pallbearers.
