Gertrude S. Andersen
, 98, Sheboygan, died at Plymouth on Saturday, Oct. 21. She was born in Washington Island Apr. 27, 1874 and was married to Martin Andersen on the Island, Jan 14, 1906. Her parents were Olafur and Gudrun Hanneson.

Mrs. Andersen served as a school clerk on Washington Island for 19 years and was a member of the Island Art Center. After moving to Sheboygan, she joined the Senior Citizen club of that city.

Her husband preceded her in death in 1928. Surviving are two sons, Marvin Andersen, Washington Island, Hannes Andersen, Oakland, Calif.; two daughters, Spencer (Sylvia) Nelson, Washington Island, Miss Olivia Andersen, Sheboygan; 11 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Her parents and one daughter preceded her in death.

Services were held 1 p.m. this Tuesday at Bethel church on the Island with the Rev. Myron Gaul officiating. Interment was at the Island cemetery.

The Casperson funeral home in Sister Bay was charge of arrangements.
