Arthur Henry Andersen (1882 - 1948)

WASH. IS.—Masonic rites tinder the auspices of the Sturgeon Bay lodge were held for Arthur Henry Anderson, 60, who died of a heart attack last Wednesday afternoon. The Rev. Clarence Lundberg officiated at the Bethel Lutheran church with interment in the Island cemetery. The Casperson Funeral home, Sister Bay, was in charge of arrangements.

Haldor Gudmundsen sang two solos. "Saved by Grace" and "In the Garden" at the services. Pallbearers were Clarence Anderson, Conrad Anderson, Phil Carlson, George Johnson. Milton Cornell and Theo Gudmundsen. Carrying flowers were Mrs. Art Young and Mrs. Wellington Lockhart.

Born in Denmark on Feb. 16, 1882, Mr. Anderson was brought to this country as a baby by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Peter Anderson. The family settled at Chicago where Mr. Anderson was married and lived until 1945.

Mr. Anderson was employed as a switchman for 16 years by the Chicago North Western railroad and for 30 years by the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul. and Pacific railroad. When he retired in 1945 he moved to the Island.

A member of the Masons, Covenant lodge, Mr. Anderson also belonged to the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen.

Married August 31, 1904, to Marie Antonette Jensen, Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife.

Also surviving are a daughter Margaret Hogenson and a son Harold D. Anderson and grandchildren, Harold, Arthur, Gunda and Karen. One brother, Walter, West Chicago, and two sisters, Mrs. Alvida Smith, Macon, Ill., and Mrs. Volney Koyen of the Island survive.

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Anderson and family and Mr. and Mrs. Frank L. Gust attended the funeral from out of town.
