This is my 3rd grade teacher who taught me to read. She was my favorite teacher and I loved her very much.

Mrs. Caviness was born April 21, 1908 in Tucumcari, New Mexico and grew up in and near Bradley, Oklahoma. She graduated from Central State University at Edmond, Oklahoma with her teaching credential and began her teaching career at Calumet, Oklahoma in 1930.

Mrs. Caviness moved to Taft in 1959 and taught third grade at Parkview School from 1959 through 1974. She retired from full time teaching in 1974, but continued to work as a substitute in the Taft District.

She is survived by a son of Bakersfield, CA and a brother of Alvord, Texas.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 23 at 10 a.m. in West Side District Cemetery. The Bishop of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints will officiate. Friends may call Monday and Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. to pay their respects. Taft Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

Rest well sweet Mrs. Caviness . . .
