He was born Nov. 3, 1922, in Bloomington, Ill., to the Rev. Boyd L. and Charlotte Crossland Rudd. He married Jacqueline Ann Landendberger on Sept. 11, 1949, in Galesburg. She preceded him in death April 7, 2009.
Surviving is one son, Douglas E. Rudd of Las Vegas.
Gene was raised in Peoria and attended Washington Grade School. He graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Ill., in 1947. He was a member of Theta Chi fraternity and was the first chapter president when Beta Rho chapter was installed in May 1942. He was also the senior class president.
During World War II, he saw action in Europe as an infantry sergeant.
He was employed by Illinois Bell Telephone Co. for 20 years before moving to California in 1967. While there, he was a real estate broker and appraiser for 25 years.
He returned to Peoria in 1992, where he operated Gene Rudd Appraisal Service. For health reasons he moved to Las Vegas in 2002, where he continued to appraise real estate.
Cremation has been accorded, with burial in Galesburg, Ill., at the Oaklawn Memorial Garden.
