Robert L. Abair

Robert L. Abair, 79, of 323 North Simon Street, Plymouth, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at 4:45 p.m. at Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home, Plymouth.

He was born on September 26, 1927 in Kouts, Indiana to Russell and Luella (Powers) Abair, Sr.

Robert married Phyllis Jean Wright on August 23, 1952. They shared 54 years of wonderful of marriage together. Robert served his country in WWII, in the Army Air Corps. He retired from the Plymouth School Corporation after 16 years.

He had a great sense of humor and was always ready to lend a helping hand to family and friends. Robert was a skilled carpenter and built many fine pieces of furniture. He loved a good cup of coffee and enjoyed many trips to the Grand Ole Opry for vacations. On a nice sunny day, you could find him in his boat fishing, or snoozing in the backyard swing.

Robert is survived by wife, Phyllis; their daughter, Rebecca and Scott Mear of Plymouth, their son, Ricky and Soomi Abair of Arkansas; three grandsons, Robert and Tara Mear of Tennessee, Ryan and Amanda Mear of Plymouth, and Nicholas Abair of Arkansas; two great-grandsons, Caleb Mear and Trey Deshields both of Tennessee; his sisters, Frances Mentzel of Bremen, Violet and Chuck Wickes of La Paz, Dorothy White of Plymouth, and Rose Harner of Bremen; his brothers, Gerrold and Gerrie Abair and Harold and Leona Abair all of Plymouth.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Russell, Jr., Chester, and James.

An evening of visiting with the family will be Saturday, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 West Madison Street, Plymouth, Indiana, 46563. There will be no funeral services.

The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Marshall County Cancer Association, P.O. Box 895, Plymouth, Indiana, 46563.
