Julia Ann Martin was born to Azariah and Lucy Dutchcomb Durham Martin.
She and her husband Pryor Davenport Martin, Jr., son of Pryor Davenport, Sr. and Nancy Ann Wooldridge Martin, had 13 children, loosing one in infancy, and giving birth to their second child, while still living with Pryor's parents. She gave birth to 11 more, raising 12 in the Log cabin that now stands in "Clover Hill Village" app. 1/2 mile from the 'Surrender Grounds' in Appomattox Virginia.
Julia was a strong woman, loosing her husband, just weeks after giving birth to their twins, Julian and Julia Scott, plus loosing her daughter, Elnora Virginia Martin, just a few months earlier.
She endured many hardships but lived to the age of 74.
She and her family are part of our founding forefathers that helped shape this great Country of ours and will be remembered by many for centuries to come.
Julia and her husband are buried in the Martin Cemetery among the fields and trees along with other family members. Although we still have not found their headstones, the obituaries of both states that is where they are resting.
