Services for Gracie Ann Chilcoat will be held in the Chapel of the Garden at Rice Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 25th, 2006 with Dr. Ted Kersh officiating. Private interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Claremore.

Gracie passed away Monday afternoon, May 22nd, 2006 at the age of 90 years and two months.

She was born March 22, 1916 at Lead Hill, Arkansas to Elax A. and Effie Ann (Fenix) Casey. At the age of nine, the family traveled by wagon to Claremore. On Feb. 18, 1935, she was united in marriage to Debs S. Chilcoat in a Bristow, OK ceremony. The young couple made their home in Bristow for a time, before moving to Tulsa. In 1942 they moved to Claremore, residing here until 1946 when they relocated the family to Oregon. Missing Oklahoma, they returned in 1947 to establish their home in Tulsa. In 1982, her beloved husband Debs passed away.

Gracie was always willing to help others in need, and had helped many families not only with childcare, but with food and clothing. She loved her church and taught girls Sunday school at Beams of Light Tabernacle. Gracie was always a fixture in the church kitchen for various activities, and could seemingly make a pie out of nothing. In later years, she also attended Gleaner Tabernacle. Although primarily a homemaker, she found time to serve not only her church but had worked as a clerk for the Tulsa County Election Board. Her ability as a master gardener, Gracie raised 26 varieties of flowers, as well as vegetables, canning many of them. But family was number one in her life, and was "Nani" to the grandchildren and many in the family.

Those that survive and hold many cherished memories are her children Earl Chilcoat of Tulsa, Donald Chilcoat and wife Barbara of Jenks, Marlene Walton and husband Johnnie of Inola; two brothers Frank Casey of Paris, TX and Louie Casey of Warden, WA; nine grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her husband, Gracie was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Carol Ann and a son David J., as well as 10 brothers and 4 sisters.
