A memorial service for Jo Lynn Kinzer will be 10:00 a.m., Wed., Oct. 21st, 2009 in the Chapel of the Garden at Rice Funeral Service. Jo Lynn left this earth to be at home in heaven on Fri., Oct. 16th, 2009 after a short but courageous battle with cancer. She was 51.
Born in Claremore on July 28th, 1958, Jo Lynn received her education in Tulsa and Owasso. When her parents returned to Claremore in the mid 90's, Jo Lynn chose to make the move back as well. On May 19, 2002, Jo Lynn and Travis Bolen married. Jo Lynn worked as a hair stylist for a number of years, but as an Avon representative she was able to work from home, allowing her to provide care for her stepson, Chris Bolen, with his battle with cancer. He is a five-year survivor.
Jo Lynn had many God-given talents, including a green thumb with which she resurrected many ailing plants into thriving ones. She possessed a brilliant, active mind that created beautiful poetry. An animal activist, she rescued a number of stray cats and dogs.
Beloved wife, mother, daughter, and friend, Jo Lynn leaves her family with a host of treasured memories. She is survived by her parents, Paul and Julia (Purkey) Kinzer of Claremore; her husband, Travis Bolen, of their home in Claremore; her son, Chris Henry of Owasso; her grandchildren, Kaylee Henry and Dakota Bryan; her stepson, Chris Dean Bolen; maternal grandmother, Vera Purkey of Claremore; brothers David Kinzer of Tulsa and Randy Kinzer of Owasso; and lifelong friends, Kathy Bickford of Claremore and Lynn Evans of Verdigris.

I met Jo Lynn or Josalina as we called her and her husband Travis at Openarms youth Project where I volunteer. They are parents of one of our youth, Chris. I instantly felt like we had already traveled through life together. I appreciated the many interests we shared. Gardening, poetry, art and the love of animals. I will never forget her for her kindness and for loving me, just as I am.
