Carolyn R. (Dorsten) Staugler, age 97 of Franklin Township, passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2023, at The Gardens of Celina.


She was born on Sept. 6, 1925 in Franklin Township to the late John & Viola (Cook) Dorsten.


On June 6, 1953 she married William Staugler, who died Dec. 30, 1984.


Carolyn is survived by her son Neal (Theresa) Staugler of Franklin Township. She is also survived by Eight grandchildren: John (Erin) Staugler of Centerville, Joseph Staugler of Ocala, FL., Matthew (Jen) Staugler of Wapakoneta, Brent (Desiree) Staugler of Hicksville, Tara (Randal) Muhlenkamp of Ft. Mill, S.C., Brooke Staugler of Celina, Brandon Staugler and Adam Staugler of Franklin Township, thirteen great grandchildren: Jane Staugler, Sadie Staugler, Lily Grimes, Kaylie Grimes, Amelia Staugler, William Staugler, Rhema Staugler, Dominik Staugler, Deklan Staugler, Blake Muhlenkamp, Graham Muhlenkamp, Kendall Staugler, Kambri Staugler. Her sisters-in-law Joan Staugler and Rita Staugler are surviving and her brother-in-law Clarence Staugler all of Coldwater.


In addition to her parents and husband, Carolyn is preceded in death by her son John Staugler, siblings and in-laws: Berneice (Harry) Bell, Frances (Donald) Mescher, Evart (Ruth) Dorsten, Helen Staugler, Mary Lillian Staugler, Ernestine Staugler, Irene (Ralph) Meinerding, Kathleen (Bernard) Muhlenkamp, Herbert Staugler, Paul (Irene) Staugler, Charles Staugler, Robert Staugler, Ralph (Joan) Staugler, Margie Staugler, Germaine (Anthony) Steinbrunner and Ernie Staugler.


Carolyn was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Montezuma, the Christian Mothers and the Ladies Sodality. She graduated from Celina High School* and worked at the Celina Insurance Group. She retired in 1991 and then worked at Wal-Mart until 2009. Carolyn lived at home with her son, Neal and his family for over twenty-six years. She enjoyed being with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.


She selflessly donated her body to the Wright State University Anatomical Program to help others.


A private family memorial services will be held at a later date in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Cemetery in Montezuma
