Margaret Glyn Wiman McReynolds Dawson, born in Kobe, Japan on October 24, 1921, to missionary parents Charles Harris and Maude Wiman, died on February 26, 2019, at Oklahoma City, OK. She became a member at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene at the age of 7 and spent her early years in Japan, Washington, Oklahoma, Kansas, Peru, and Texas. She and Emery McReynolds were married in 1942 and lived in Kansas and Oklahoma until his death in 1971. Throughout her career, she inspired students through mathematics at Lawrence High School; the University of Kansas; Bethany Nazarene College, where she was also the Dean of Women; and ended her career at the Putnam City School District. In 1974, she married Vernon Dawson and continued living in Bethany, OK, with many summers spent in Divide, CO, and winters in South Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Harris and Maude Wiman; husband, Emery McReynolds; husband, Vernon Dawson; brother, Cecil Wiman; and step-daughters, Kerry Funk and Vernona Purtee. She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Sprowls (Robert Tulloh), Oklahoma City, OK; son, David McReynolds (Susan), Edmond, OK; daughter, Marcia Fisher (Tim), Guthrie, OK; step-daughter, Janis Dawson, Oklahoma City, OK; sister, Eula Merle Simpson, Jonesboro, AR; brother, Charles Wiman, Grand Junction, CO; grandchildren, Lori Wood of Edmond, Melissa Clark (Brad) of Fishers, IN, Matt McReynolds (Heather) of St. Louis, MO, Scott Sprowls (Adrienne) of Reno, NV, Melanie Fullingim (Jeremy) of Jenks, OK, Megan Graf (Jonathan) of Tulsa, OK, Ben Fisher (Kari) of Fishers, IN; step-grandchildren, Stacy Voss (Bill) of St. Louis, MO and Stephanie Conrad (Shawn) of Bethany; 24 great-grandchildren; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A viewing will be Friday, 9 am-9 pm, with family present from 6-8 pm at Mercer-Adams Chapel, Bethany, OK. Services will be held on Saturday, March 2, at 2:00 p.m. at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene with interment in Bethany Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Eswatini Partnership, Bethany First Church of the Nazarene, 6789 N.W. 39th Expressway, Bethany, Oklahoma 73008.
