Reuben Phillip Owen was a school teacher, Chester County Tax Assessor, and Farmer until his retirement. He was also a Free Will Baptist preacher. My mother, Ruth Gober Thomas, told me that her Grandpa, Reuben Phillip Owen Sr, was a little man and a Freewill Baptist preacher. He was always meticulous in his grooming and I do remember that he loved people; loved very much visiting his friends and kinsfolk. I heard a few of his sermons. They were of the sweet, encouraging type and I remember that he prayed beautiful prayers full of sweet old-fashioned phrases. He died of pneumonia at age 90.
