Sylvester Franklin Stock, son of Sylvester and Christena stock, was born in Allegheny, Pennsylvania on April 20, 1871 and passed to the great beyond at his home in Tiffin Township, Tuesday, May 6, 1930 at the age of 59 years, 8 days. He spent his entire life on a farm in Tiffin Township. On November 16, 1898 he was united in marriage to Ella Linebrink. This home was blessed with three daughters, Mabel, who died July 27, 1925, Fern and Irene at home. He also leaves one granddaughter, Martha Ellen Benner; four brothers, Fred W. Stock, Tiffin Township; Henry L. Stock, Defiance; Edward J. Stock, Tiffin Township; Benjamin F. Stock, Geneva; two sisters, Mrs. Carl Miller, Defiance; Mrs. Lloyd Peterson, Geneva. He was fond of his home, a loving husband, kind father always devoted to his family. He was a faithful attendant of the St. John's M.E. Church and Sunday school.
As we ponder over his departure at a time when the future was just unfolding, we wonder why, yet it is not for us to understand that one such as he should be taken.
'Tis hard to break the tender cord
Where love has bound the heart;
'Tis hard, so hard, to speak the words.
We must forever part.
Yet again we hope to meet thee
When the days of life are fled.
And in heaven with joy to greet thee
Where no farewell tears are shed.
We loved him, yes we loved him.
But the Angels loved him more
And they have sweetly called him home.
To yonder blissful shore.
The golden gates were opened
A gentle voice said "come,"
And with farewell unspoken,
He comely entered home.
