JEFF AIR CAVALRYMAN IS KILLED IN VIET BATTLE
Funeral serviced for Army Spec. 4C David M. Jolley, Jr., 22, Jeffersonville serviceman killed in action in Viet Nam May 22, will be held at 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the Coots Funeral Home and at 9 a.m. at St Augustine's Catholic Church. Interment will be in St Anthony's Cemetery.
He was killed in action while his unit was engaging Communist guerrillas north of Saigon. He was scheduled to end his tour of duty in Viet Nam and return to the States in six weeks.
Jolley attached to the famed 1st Cavalry Airmobile Division, was killed while his unit was tracking down Red troops during "Operation Crazy Horse" 275 miles north of the South Vietnamese Capital City.
Jolley attended Jeffersonville High School and St. Augustine's Catholic Church, had been in the army for four years and served in the combat zone since last August.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda; a daughter, Michele; his parents, Mr. & Mrs. David M. Jolley, Sr., 1434 Fredereick Ave.; three sisters, Shirley Kinnaird, Jacqueline and Linda Jolley, all of Jeffersonville; and two brothers, James Jolley, Louisville, and Robert Jolley of Jeffersonville.
