Obituary From "Ottumwa Courier," Thursday, May 31, 1945:

MRS. M. D. THORNE
Mrs. M. D. Throne, 64, a long-time resident of Ottumwa, died early today at the home of her daughter, Mrs. M. J. Dunham, in Philadelphia. Mrs. Thorne was born in Lucas and lived in Ottumwa most of her life, She went to Philadelphia at Christmas time to visit her daughter and there became ill. She is survived by the daughter, and one son, Paul Thorne, of Cedar Rapids.
The body will be returned to Ottumwa where funeral services and burial will be held. Complete Arrangements have not yet been made.

THORNE SERVICES
Funeral services for Mrs. Delia M. Thorne, former Ottumwan, who died Thursday at the home of her daughter in Philadelphia, will be held at 9 a.m. Monday, at the St. Mary's church. A requiem high mass will be celebrated by the Rt. Rev. Msgr. J.M. Walsh, V.F., and interment will be in the Calvary cemetery.
The body will arrive in Ottumwa Saturday afternoon and the Rosary will be recited at the Lester Jay funeral home at 8 p.m. Sunday.
