My cat, Tiki, and her family were abandoned as kittens (her parents, too) by some people that lived next door to my family. We rescued them and kept Tiki.

She had some kittens and one of them, my brother, Gary, kept and named Black Jack. But, he soon nicknamed him "Ace," which stuck. These kittens were born at Sarpy Creek, near Hardin, Montana.

We had Ace over 10 years when he disappeared. He was a large cat and not only raised many kittens we adopted, but also puppies. When I was in 1st grade, my parents got me two black lab puppies. When they were a few months old, they disappeared. We couldn't find them anywhere. We lived in the country. Pretty soon, here they came with Ace leading them. He'd been teaching them to hunt!

Ace was an aloof cat. He wasn't the cuddly kind. But, he liked to be petted and scratched. He liked my sister, Brenda, the most. One day, she was sitting on the steps when he dropped some varmint he'd killed at her feet. We figured he was saying "thank you" for taking care of him. She was the one who usually fed him. She told him no thanks, so after awhile, he dragged it away and ate it himself.

Ace disappeared when he was 10. We figured something big had to have gotten him because he had been known to take down jackrabbits. He was a pretty tough cat.

The other kittens in his litter were Polar Bear, a white kitten with blue eyes. She had a fan accident one morning when she crawled up under the hood of a truck. I think the others were Pug, Freddy, Prince, but I don't remember all of them. I was only 3 years old when they were born.
