When three years old we moved to Chesterfield, Idaho. There I went to school and when fourteen we moved to Dempsey, now called Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. I lived there most of my life.
I married John Ernest Byington 21 August 1912. We came to Pocatello, and my husband worked for the Railroad one year then we went back to Lava Hot Springs and homesteaded a piece of land. It was back in the hill about seven miles, after the crop was in my husband would go out to work and I would stay there with my baby and milk a few cows and look after the place. I would come down to my mother-in-laws once week with my baby on a pony we called Browny. It doesn't take riches to be happy for I don't think any one could have been happier than we were. In 1918 we sold out and bought a farm near town and we lived there and raised our family of four, three girls and one son. My girls graduated from high school and my son from the University of Idaho. In 1942 we sold our farm and moved to Pocatello where we live now. We own our home at 1221 East Fremont.
I have been active in the church serving as teacher in Sunday School and Relief Society. I was also counselor in the Relief Society eleven years.
I am fifty-seven years old and great grandmother of one little girl and twin boys. My mother is living and that makes five generations in our family, also my husband's mother is living and that is five generations on his side of the family too.
