Alton J. 'Al' Caldwell Sr.
Funeral for Alton J. "Al" Caldwell Sr., 66, Lawton, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Patrick McPherson officiating.

Mr. Caldwell died Monday, Oct. 5, 2009, in a Lawton hospital.

Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.

He was born March 16, 1943, in Oklahoma City, to Eugene and Dovie Kathryn Griffith Caldwell Sr. He grew up in Oklahoma City and was a 1959 graduate of Capital Hill High School. He married Donna M. Robertson on Jan. 14, 1983, in Lawton. He attended Oklahoma State University and was a graduate of Cameron University with Bachelor of Science degrees in Accounting and Business and two associate degrees. He served six years in the Army and was honorably discharged on April 6, 1972, with the rank of captain. He was a veteran of Vietnam and had served one tour of duty in Korea. His awards include the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 device, Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal and two overseas service bars. Following his discharge from the Army, he worked for American National Bank as the Data Processing Manager. At the time of his death he was self-employed and owned Bradwell Development Corporation. He was also part owner of Granite Point RV Park at Lake Lawtonka. He was a member of Friends of the Wichitas.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Alton J. "Joey" Caldwell Jr., Pickerington, Ohio; a daughter, Mary Cotton, Lawton; a grandson, Taylor Cotton, Lawton; a sister and brother-in-law, Clara "Deana" and George Somerville, San Antonio; a brother and sister-in-law, Billy Wayne and Dean Caldwell, Oklahoma City; many nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Carol and James Dean, Lawton; and Janice and Rick Whitmire, Burleson, Texas; his father and mother-in-law, Jesse and Barbara Robertson, Lawton; and special friends: Steve and Jane Ensley and Ann and Bill Boling, all of Lawton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Hayden Neil Caldwell; a sister, Nannie Sue Caldwell; and two brothers: Gerald Leon Caldwell and Eugene Caldwell Jr.

The family will greet friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
