JONES, Harvey Stacey - Harvey Stacey Jones was born at Elliott, Ark. Aug. 9th, 1896 and died at Ft. Smith on Dec. 24th, 1918, being at the time of his death 22 years, 4 months and 15 days. His death resulted from pneumonia following an attack of influenza. Most of his life was spent in and around Bentonville where he received his education in the public schools of the city. At an early age he became a Christian, uniting with the M.E. church, south and his faith sustained him in his dying hour, for he expressed his fearlessness of death and his hopefulness for the future. He was interested and active in the musical circles, among which he made many friends. He removed with his family to Ft. Smith in October 1917. He leaves to mourn his loss his widow, three small children, his parents, a brother, Roy, and three sisters, Mrs. Julian Coffelt, and Misses Georgia and Josephine. His body was brought to Bentonville for burial in City cemetery where it rests, awaiting the resurrection.[Benton County Record - Bentonville, Benton County, Arkansas - January 10, 1919]
