Richard W. Shertzer, 91, of Landis Homes, Lititz, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 3, 2005.

His wife, the late Mabel K. Esbenshade Shertzer, died in May 1985.

He was a self-employed farmer and marketing of produce, attending Central Market for many years. In later years, he moved to Lancaster City and was employed by Menno Housing and was coordinator for Mennonite Disaster Service.

Born in Manor Township, he was the son of the late Amos N. and Mary S. Warfel Shertzer.

Richard was a member of Crossroads Mennonite Church, formerly South Christian Street Mennonite Church and served both churches in various responsibilities. He enjoyed photography, traveling, listening to music and making scrapbooks, including one on his own life history and one on the history of the South Christian Street Mennonite Church. He enjoyed volunteering at Landis Homes while living there.

Surviving are three daughters, Janet, married to Negash Kebede, of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Joanne, married to Gary Sensenig, of Nairobi, Kenya and Mary, married to Nelson Martin, of Bethel; six grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Martha, and a brother, Amos.
