Mrs. Thompson was a native and lifelong resident of Toombs County. She was a 1972 graduate of Vidalia High School. She was a homemaker and a member of the Cedar Crossing Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Dosha Smith.
Survivors include her husband, James D. Thompson, South Thompson Community; one daughter and son-in-law, Leah and Billy Collins, of Collins; one sister, Vivian Sowell, South Thompson Community; two brothers, Allen Smith, Vidalia, and Ronald Smith, Burke County; one granddaughter, Lalani Collins, Collins; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and Jean Thompson, South Thompson Community; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, October 13, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. in the Cedar Crossing Baptist Church, with Rev. Reece Mincey and Rev. Greg Riner officiating. Interment followed in Lakeview Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Mike Sharpton, Kenny Thompson, Dwayne Sharpe, Charles Page, Ricky Thompson, and Gene Fountain.
