Mrs. Berd L. Shields, wife of Tad E. Shields, New Bedford, and former Democratic County Commissioner of Lawrence County, died in the Jameson Memorial Hospital, this morning at 12:15 o'clock. Mrs. Shields had been ill since February. She rallied following a first trip to the hospital, and followed a recent major operation on a second trip to the hospital, failed to respond.

She was born the daughter of the late James and Olive Ann Price, of Cleveland, Ohio. Mrs. Shields was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, Cleveland.

In addition to her husband, she leaves a daughter, Mrs. Helen (Shields) Cover; and a sister, Ora Cover of Pulaski, RD #1, a brother, Mayor H. D. Price, of Westlake, OH; and two grandchildren, James and Robert Cover.

The body will be removed from the Kelly Funeral Home, Hubbard, Ohio to the residence, Thursday morning, and friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be from the residence, Friday at 2:30 p.m. Dr. Robert W. Veach in charge.
