Funeral services for James H. Hendricks, 78, of Edgewood, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point with Rev. Fred Morrow officiating. Interment will follow at the Small Cemetery north of Edgewood.

He passed away early Saturday morning, April 11, 2009, at his residence.

James was born November 20, 1930, in Edgewood, Texas, the son of Roy Rusk Hendricks and Sallie Ruth Haptonstall Hendricks. He was raised in the Edgewood area, graduating from Edgewood High School in 1948. On February 26, 1949, he married Ritta Aline Bishop in Edgewood. James had been employed over thirty years by Southwest Airmotive which later became Aviall, retiring in 1996. He enjoyed raising cattle, fishing, riding his tractor and his dogs. James was a member of the Pleasant Union Baptist Church in Edgewood.

Preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law, Janet Shinn.

James is survived by his wife, Ritta Hendricks, of Edgewood; two sons, Jett Hendricks & wife, Sherri, of Terrell and Jeff Hendricks, of Canton; daughter, Jeannine Hendricks, of Edgewood; brother, Billy Hendrix & wife, LuAnn, of Edgewood; two brothers-in-law, Richard Shinn & wife, Brenda, of Myrtle Springs and Melton Bishop & wife, Nell, of Wills Point; nephew, Kurt Hendrix & wife, Mitzi, of Edgewood; niece, Mimi Dominy, of Mesquite; two former daughters-in-law, Karen Hendricks, of Canton and Lisa Rogers, of Palestine and five grandchildren, Chris Hendricks & wife, Nicole, of Rowlett, Michael Hendricks, of Canton, Jeremy Hendricks, of Canton, Jeremiah Tawater, of Kaufman and Corey Mullican, of Terrell.

Pallbearers: Chris Hendricks, Jeremy Hendricks, Michael Hendricks, Jeremiah Tawater, Kurt Hendrix and Brian Box.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p. m.
