Douglas A. Brooks, 61, of Wabash, Indiana, died Monday, December 31, 2007 at 1:21 p.m. at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis. He was born April 29, 1946 in Wabash to James E. and Anna Belle (Ridenour) Brooks. He married Linda L. Chaplin on June 27, 1965 in Wabash. Doug attended Faith Baptist Church. He loved being a grandpa to his grandchildren. He was involved in World Vision, sponsoring children for 23 years. A lifetime member of the NRA, Doug was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman. He especially enjoyed black bear hunting. He owned and operated Doug's Taxidermy for 45 years. Mr. Brooks was a firefighter with Wabash Fire Department for 34 years, retiring in 2001. He had also worked for Beauchamp & McSpadden in maintenance. He is survived by his wife, Linda L. Brooks of Wabash; his daughter, Shawna (Steve) Bisson of Crestwood, Kentucky; his son, James Douglas (Kelly) Brooks of Cedar Lake, Indiana; five grandchildren, Kristopher Brooks of Louisville, Kentucky, Alia and Aiden Brooks, both of Cedar Lake, Caelan and Chloe Bisson, both of Crestwood; his two brothers, Dean (Vonnie) Jines of Columbia City and DeWayne Brooks of Wabash. He was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Brooks.
