Lillie May Carta, of Midland, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2011. She was born May 28, 1922 to Hiram Perry and Ruby Lee Carter in Oklahoma. Lillie moved to Midland in 1952. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, the Scottish Heritage Society and the Gem & Mineral Society. After retiring from the school system, Lillie worked at HEB and loved all of her "kids" that she worked with. Special thanks to all of the caregivers at Amazing Grace Assisted Living for all of the wonderful care Lillie was given. Lillie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, L.D. Carta; son, Donald Fred Edward Carta; daughter-in-law, Margaret Carta; brother, James Thomas Carter and sister, Wanda Fay Harrison. She is survived by her son, James Carta; daughter-in-law, Jerri Carta; nieces, Fay Carpenter and husband Johnny, Jean Larremore and husband Brian; nephews, Joe Cooper and Perry Rochester; great niece, Anita Dirst; great nephew, Harry William Carroll II and grandson, Mike Carta. Graveside service has been scheduled for 1:00 pm Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.
