He was born Jan. 10, 1933, in Mattoon, Ill., and had lived here since 1946. He was a midget and stock car racer, a veteran of the Korean War, a member of the John C. Peterson Post 49 of the American Legion, and a member of the Eagles Lodge at Columbia City. On March 5, 1961, he married Sue Thomas, who survives, with two sons, Tony Lee and Jimmie Wayne II, and a daughter, Joni Lyn, all at home; his mother, Mrs. Blanche Snyder of Warsaw; his father, Gerald Elliott of Mattoon; one sister, Mrs. Howard Lehman of Warsaw, and two brothers, Tim Snyder of Warsaw, and Jerry Snyder of Fort Wayne.
