Mrs. Willie Violet Turpen Anderson, 80, of Florence, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2003.Mrs. Anderson graduated from Central High School and started the first She was preceded in death by her husband, John William Anderson; a sister, Shirley Cook; and a brother, W.O. Turpen Jr.The family will receive friends 6-9 p.m. today at Elkins Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Elkins chapel. Sonny Owens and David Dowdy will officiate, with interment at Philemon Gresham Cemetery. Elkins Funeral Home, Florence, is assisting.She is survived by her son, David E. Anderson and wife, Jacque, of Florence; sisters, La Rue Cobb of Athens, Judy Himmelright of Athens; brothers, Brandon Turpen of Florence and Bobby R. Turpen of Athens; one grandson, Jade Anderson and wife, Cindy; two great-grandchildren, Doss and Campbell Anderson.Pallbearers will be Ronnie Cobb, Richard Cobb, Roger Cobb, Bobby Earl Greene, Terry Ray Turpen, Scott Cook and Jerry Turpen.Honorary pallbearers are Mike Turpen, Bobby Jones, Mitch Parrish, Steve Balentine, Carl Holder, John Balentine, Larry Young and David Hollingsworth.The family requests memorials be made to Hospice of the Shoals.
