He was born May 21, 1943, in Lawrence County, the son of the late William Clifton and Amanda Ward Clifton.
He attended Open Door School and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Audrey Harper and Doris Bailey and an infant brother.
He is survived by a brother, Jim Clifton, of Symmes Valley; and a sister, Janet Adkins, of Huntington, W.Va.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Bartrum officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Creek Cemetery.
