Robert C. "Andy" Anderson, 78, of 424 Hickory St. died Thursday, May 29, 1997, at Proctor Hospital in Peoria.

Born May 27, 1919, in Chillicothe to Charles A. and Ida M. Halbman Anderson, he married Marie Jeffery on June 2, 1946, in Lacon. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Jeffery of Chillicothe; one daughter, Gayle Westerman of Chillicothe; and four grandchildren. Three sisters preceded him in death.

A member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 51 in Springfield, he was a troubleshooter for Central Illinois Light Co. in the Lacon area for 32 years, retiring in 1981. He also co-owned Anderson-McCully Tree Service in Chillicothe for many years and was a parts driver for Grave's Riverside Chevy/Olds/Geo in Chillicothe for seven years.

A World War II Army veteran, he served in the South Pacific from 1941 to 1945. He received two Bronze Stars.

He was a former member of American Legion Post 9 in Chillicothe and Chillicothe Fire Department.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Weber Funeral Home. The Rev. Ray Harrison will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Cremation has been accorded. Burial of ashes will be at a later date.

Memorials may be made to Chillicothe Fire Department or to Rescue 33.
