Mrs. Gertrude Abbey, wife of George Abbey, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. B. Harper, of Portland, May 29, aged 47 years.
The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at the home of Mrs, A. B, Harper. The body was taken to Fredonia for burial.
Mrs. Abbey was a devoted and loving mother and will be sadly missed by her husband and children.
Her son Clayton left Westfield with the last boys who went from Westfield May 25. The following Thursday he received the sad news of his mother's death. He arrived home Friday noon and left Sunday night for Camp Dix.
Besides her husband she is survived by a brother, Addison Perkins of Piper City, Ill., and a sister, Mrs. Sena Parker of Erie, Pa,; and the following children- Mrs. A. B. Harper, Portland. Mrs. George Irish, Cattaraugus, N. Y. Addison Abbey, Brocton, Clayton of Camp Dix. Wellington, Clyde, Leon. Cassie and Gerry of Portland, and four grand children."
