ELMER R. BEAL
Elmer R. Beal, age 84, a resident of rural Fort Scott, died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan.
He was born Jan. 14, 1925, in Fort Scott, Kan., the son of Frank and Ethel Galvin Beal.
Elmer served in the United States Army during WWII as a cook in food service.
He married Priscilla L. Wishon on July 16, 1949, in Colby, Kan. She preceded him in death on June 25, 1980.
He later married Marguerite "Marge" Fritter on July 12, 1985. She preceded him in death on May 18, 2003.
Elmer worked as self employed as a carpenter. He was active in the Scottish Rite, Mirza Shrine Temple Love Bugs, V.F.W. (formerly Fort Scott, presently Nevada), American Legion, as well as Elks Lodge.
Survivors include one son, Elmer Ray Beal, Jr. and wife Anna, Republic, Washington; one daughter Brenda J. Call and husband Michael, Fort Scott, Kansas; one sister, Ada Beal, Fort Scott; five grandchildren, Priscilla Wiggans-Griffiths, Kayko Lin Beal, Nina Beal, Francis Beal, and Buddy Beal; and three great grandchildren, Beau Hendershot, Jorja Griffiths, Cameron Beal.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Edward, Homer, Marion, and Olan Beal; four sisters, Elva Beal, Anna Lucille Beal, Elma Eshelbrenner, and Helen Frisbie, as well as one grandson, Jonathon Beal.
Rev. Chuck Russell will conduct graveside services at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 14, 2009, in the U. S. National Cemetery, Fort Scott.
Military Honors will be provided by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. till 8 p.m. Sunday evening in the Cheney Witt Chapel.
