William Spencer 'Will' Cowley was born in Bibb County, Alabama, in 1864 to William Craig and Sarah Jane Dowdle Cowley. He spent his life tilling the soil of Alabama, Texas and Indian Territory (now Oklahoma), also working in the citrus industry in Ventura County, California at one time; raising a family of five children: Jessie Mayo, Elizabeth 'Bessie'; Mabel; Raymond Lee and Ollie Leroy. Ollie Leroy was born 11 July 1891 and died 14 June 1893 in Texas, probably in Grayson County. No record has been found of Ollies' burial site. Raymond Lee was born in Texas and died in Indian Territory before Oklahoma became a state. The girls attained adulthood and married. 'Will' met and married 'Narrie' in Lockhart, Caldwell County, Texas on the second of October, 1884. His wife, both sons and daughter Mabel preceded him in death. 'Will' was a loving and jovial husband, father and grandfather. He doted on his grandchildren.
