Sarah Louisa (Eliza) ENSLOW is the daughter of David ENSLOW of Sangamon, Illinois and Rachel Virgin. Sarah married John Dobbs Enslow Jan 16, 1834. He is a son of Abraham ENSLOW, (b. ca. 1760's, lived in Juniata Co., PA) and his mother is Marguerita DOBBS, (d.o. Thomas DOBBS and Janet MAHAFFY.)

Grandma Enslow, mother of Mrs. H.C. Champlain, departed from this life on the 17th and was laid in her final resting place at Alexandria on the 19th. The deceased was born in Ohio March 1st, 1809, was married in 1828, came west soon after and located with her husband John D. Enslow, in Iowa in its territorial days, where they raised a family consisting of five boys and three daughters and so patriotic were the family that the father and five sons all entered the army in defense of the flag in 1861. Two sons were killed and the remaining three, viz.: Charles, John Henry and George Washington, with the father remained in the army till the close of the war. They then went to Fairbury, Illinois, and remained there until the husband died, since which time she has made it her home with her children and for quite a number of years has lived in Nebraska and most of the time with her daughter at whose residence she died. The services were held at the M.F. church in Daykin, Rev. Morrison preaching the sermon, and paid a fine tribute to the loyalty of the family and the many deprivations of the wife and mother incident to those times when all of the male portion of the family were off in defense of the flag and she struggling at home to keep the rest of the family, and he doubted if the record of the family was equaled in the whole state of Iowa. Deceased was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church for many years and left behind the blessed assurance that she had passed to her reward. (The Fairbury Gazette, February 23, 1895)
