Born in Wierchomla Wielka, Galicia, Austria (now in Nowy Sacz, Malapolskie, Poland) From the western Carpathian Mountains, the daughter of Michal Rusiniak and Maria Knap Rusiniak;sister of Anna, Anastasia,Antonina and Maria. According to her daughter Mary, she had a beautiful singing voice. She loved her collection of beautiful hats and her flower garden.
Her maternal ancestors came from Sulin, Slovakia.
