Mr. Peters' obituary appeared in a Montgomery County newspaper, 30 May 1958:

McKittrick Resident, Dies

William F. Peters, 82, husband of Mrs. Ollie Peters, nee Gunby, died at his home at McKittrick on Memorial Day following a brief illness. Funeral services were held Monday at St. Marcus E. & R. Church at Rhineland, of which Mrs. Peters was a member, with Rev. Otto Kienker of Warrenton officiating. Burial took place in the church cemetery.

Mr. Peters, a son of the late Christian Peters and wife, nee Johanna Weibring, was born April 7, 1876, at Hermann. He was married to Miss Ollie Gunby on January 18, 1899, four children being born of the marriage. Mr. Peters was a carpenter and interior decorator and also served as manager of the former Rhineland Lumber Co.

Besides his wife, survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Felicia Meyer of McKittrick and Mrs. Florence Saak of Hermann; a son, Herbert J. Peters of Page, Ariz., one sister, Mrs. Bertha Kohlbusch of Hermann; 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. (Obituary is courtesy of Marj Miller, Montgomery County Historical Society.)

The 1880 census indicates that Christian was a farmer living in Gasconade County, MO; stepson Benjamin Lansing age 14 living in the 1880 Peters' household confuses. By 1900 Christian and Johanna were living in Montgomery County; marriage was reportedly in 1881.

Christian Peters' MO death certificate reports that he was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. His parents were born in Germany and names unknown. Informant was his son William Peters: Christian Peters March 17, 1922 Montgomery 9533.

probable narrative: Johanna Wiebering was probably the daughter of Arnal Wiebering (various spellings) and Theodora nee Hulkenberg; parents' names were taken from brother Gerhard Herman Weibering (1856-1931) MO death certificate. After the death of Johanna's father circa 1858, her mother married a Crews/Kruse.
