The Decatur Daily - July 16, 1940

Mrs. D. R. Melson, 52, passed away Monday evening at 7:30 o'clock at her home on Danville Route two.

The deceased is survived by her hushand; one daughter, Mrs. Carter Higgins of Moulton, Route two; three sons, Bill, A.J. and Abron Melson, all of Danville, Route two; her father, J. L. Black, of Moulton, Route three; a brother, J. M. Black of Moulton, Route three; three sisters, Mrs. Henry Smith of Vinemont, Route one, Mrs. Luther Smith of Landersville, Mrs. Ernest White of Danville, Route two.

Services will be conducted at Aldridge Grove in Lawrence County this afternoon at three o'clock by Rev. Emmett Byars. Interment will be directed by Peck. The following will be pallbearers: Ellis Mulligan, Luke McMillian, William Melson, Arthur Rogers, Milford Legg, Elmer Logan. The following will handle the flowers: Misses Imogene Sparks, Annie Rogers, Opal Guest, Bessie Guest, Mrs. Louise Smith, Mrs. Sally Wiley.
