Funeral services for Richard Paul Harris, 67, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, at Wait Ross Allanson Funeral and Cremation Services, Elgin Chapel, 51 Center St. Born April 16, 1937, in Elgin, the son of Fredrick W. and Florence C. (nee Peterson) Harris, he passed away Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004, in Sherman West Court, Elgin. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin. Richard was a 1955 graduate of Elgin High School. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Elgin for many years. He was employed by Nicor Gas Company for 35 years before retiring as an inspector. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and enjoyed working in his yard, giving special care to his flowers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Alfred, Robert, Floyd Harris and Charles Harris in infancy; and by his sister, Elizabeth Harris. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Richard's name to the Jayne Shover Easter Seals.
