Mrs. Abker and her husband, William L., retired to Fairfield Bay in 1975. She was an avid golfer for many years, and in her earlier days at the Bay was very active at the craft store, painting many requested pictures. Mrs. Abker was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church. She also played the organ at St. Francis Sunday Mass and was requested for many anniversaries and funerals.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother.
Mrs. Abker is survived by three daughters, Sharon Roper and husband, Tony, of Carencro, Louisiana, Linda Winters and husband, Rollie, of Fairfield Bay, and Patty Krimmel and husband, Vic, of Akron, Iowa; two brothers, Robert Lahann and wife, Goldene, of Sun City, California, and Donald Lahann and wife, Phyllis, of Georgetown, Texas. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Nancee Roost and husband, Frank, of Fairfield Bay; eight grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be held Friday, Sept. 4, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church with Fr. Oliver Ochieze officiating. Interment will follow at Woodland Memorial Park. Frank Roost, Joe Preusser, Ben Heimann, Pat Barone, Tony Diaz, and Gene Brock will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to the Animal Shelter at Fairfield Bay. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home.
