Alyce Jayne Rogers, 69, of Sallisaw, formerly of Spiro, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, in Sallisaw. Mrs. Rogers was a member of the First Baptist Church, Delta Kappa Gamma and the Garden Club. She taught in education for 38 years at Charleston, Pocola and Spiro. She was an avid reader, an artist, a seamstress, and loved to travel. Alyce Jane graduated from Spiro High School in 1953. She completed her college studies at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Okla. She earned a bachelor's of science degree in education in 1957, a master's degree in 1965 and reading specialist degree in 1976. Her one statement to students that would make a difference in their life and attitude: "Be an integral part of school, and make school an integral part of you." Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 14, 2005, at Sallisaw First Baptist Church with burial at Sallisaw City Cemetery under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home of Sallisaw. She is survived by her husband, Garland Rogers of the home; a daughter, Kay Franco and husband, Jeff of Tonitown; a sister, Sue Young and husband Larry of Spiro; two grandchildren, Cecely and Caroline Franco; one cousin, Carolyn Underwood and husband, Vernon of Wilburton, Okla.; and caregiver, Brenda Thompson. Pallbearers will be Robert Holbrook, J.L. Williams, Ronnie Parent, Morris Herring, Mark Dyer and Louis Holcomb. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Pipkins, Enie Tobler, Tom Tobler, Steve Sullivan, Robert Dickinson and Bill Scott.
