Darrell George Ramstad was born July 12, 1946 in Fargo, ND to Lyle and Lorraine Ramstad. He was raised and attended school in Hunter. Following graduation from Hunter High School, he attended NDSU in Fargo and MSU in Moorhead, MN.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for two years before returning to Hunter, where he worked with his father in construction. For the past several years, he worked with his good friend Jay Johnson, selling cars.
Darrell was known by his family and friends as having a good heart and being a good father.
He is survived by two daughters, Summer Ramstad, Detroit Lakes, MN and Carrie; his mother, Lorraine, Hunter, ND; sister, Carol (Myron) Brend, Fargo; two brothers, Dennis, Hunter, Daylen (Paulette), Fargo; grandson, Ryland Cheska and his best friend and business associate Jay Johnson and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Lyle and sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Don Wenaas.
Visitation: Wednesday, August 19, from 6 to 7 in West Funeral Chapel, Casselton, ND with a prayer service at 7.
Funeral Service: Thursday, August 20, 2009 at 2 in the First Lutheran Church, Hunter, ND.
Burial: Hunter Cemetery.
