He was born September 17, 1933 at Winchester, AR, a son of the late Frank Marion Collins and Clara Hope Rhodes Collins. He was reared and educated at Winchester, and graduated from Dumas High School. He attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and served four years in the United States Army in Germany. He retired from farming on his family homeplace, Hopedale Farm at Winchester. He was a Mason and a Methodist.
He was preceded in death by one brother, P. L. "Bo" Morris, and two sisters, June Ackerman and Regine Fatherree.
Survivors include his wife, Colleen Goodloe Collins, whom he married July 17, 2002; one son, John Collins and wife, Beth of Bazetta, OH; one stepson, Jim Dowen of Pine Bluff; three daughters, Nancy Collins of Atlanta, GA; Margaret Hankins of Chesapeake, VA; and Emily Land and husband Tony of Virginia Beach, VA; two sisters, Hope Clement of Pine Bluff and Emily Riggins of Dumas; eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services were held at Carr Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Buddy Ratliff and Rev. Mary Susan Hilliard officiating. Burial was in Graceland Cemetery by Charles E. Fuller Funeral Services
