EWING EVERETT VANDERGRIFT, son of Dewey and Velma Wilson Vandergrift, was born September 28, 1928, in Laclede County, Missouri and departed this life August 18, 2009, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-years.
Early in life, Everett, as he was known to family and friends, professed his faith in Christ, and at the time of his death was attending Bennett Spring Church of God.

Everett grew up in the Bennett Spring area. He made friends easily and appreciated the closeness of the small community. He remained in contact with many of them throughout the years.

On April 10, 1955, he was united in marriage with Evelyn Flystra. She preceded him in death on May 25, 2008.

Everett retired from Swift and Company after twenty five years of service. He was the owner and operator of VAN'S Motor Sales and Body Shop for thirty five years in Lebanon. He took great pride in his work and paid attention to detail. His customers and the relationships he built with them were very important to him.

Everett enjoyed playing his guitar and singing. He played with family and friends as often as possible. He also enjoyed playing golf, sometimes averaging over three times a week. However, nothing compared to the time spent and memories made with his family.

He is survived by one daughter, Linda Smith and her husband Dick of Buffalo, MO; one son, Gregory Vandergrift and his wife Lori of Holts Summitt, MO; his fiance' Ronna Sue Howard of Lebanon, MO; one step-son, Darrell McLaughlin, also of Lebanon, MO; three brothers, Hershel and his wife Vicky, Ernest and his wife Sue, and Virgil Vandergrift and his wife Libby; one sister, Esther Cottingham and her husband Zane, all of Lebanon, MO; seventeen grandchildren, Adrian, Shauna, Bethany, Brandy, Jarrad, Jacob, Jeffrey, Micheal Vandergrift, Caitlin, Michael Murphy, Bucky, Shane, Matthew, Darrell, Anna and Christina; twelve great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, five year old Blanch and Betty Stone and two brothers, infant brother Dale and Clarence.

Everett was a loving father and grandfather, cherished brother and treasured fiance'. He had contagious laughter and the ability to light up a room. He will be greatly missed.
