Mary was a lifetime resident of Southeast Missouri and died at age 96 on January 5, 1989, after a long illness. On July 28, 1907, she was married to Panter McDowell, who preceded her in death. She was a member of the Faith Tabernacle Church.
Mary is survived by two sons, Jack McDowell and Willie Shipman, both of Poplar Bluff; one daughter, Iva Jameson of Wellton, Arizona; and 30 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held at 11:00 AM Monday, January 9th at the Fitch Funeral Chapel with the Rev. David Thorp officiating. Burial was in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
