Funeral services were conducted at the chapel of Brown Funeral Home in Gloster, Mississippi September 24, 1966 at 1:00 p.m. for John Walter Shill, Sr. Rev. W. H. Wicker and Rev. Ed Causey were in charge of the services.
Mr. Shill, age 53, died at Field Memorial Hospital in Centreville, Mississippi September 22, 1966 following a heart attack suffered about three days earlier.
He was a native of Texas. He had been a resident of Gloster for several years where he was employed by the Illinois Central Railroad Company as section foreman.
Survivors include his widow, Sarah Marie Shill, his mother, Mrs. Florence Lee Shill, Hazelhurst; five sons, John W., Jr. U.S. Navy, Francis Lee, Florida, Clay Rush, Lake Providence, Louisiana, George D., Jackson, and James D., U.S. Air Force; six daughters, Mrs. Margaret Grubbs, Jackson, Mrs. Donna Mae McCurley, Clinton, Barbara Ann and Kathryn Emily, Baton Rouge, and Martha Ellen and Helen Marie of Gloster, and 10 grandchildren.
Burial was in the Natchez City Cemetery. Brown Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
