HE MARRIED MABEL LORRAINE LONG 9 MAR 1940 IN HAWKINS COUNTY, TENNESSEE. GOD BLESSED THIS MARRIAGE WITH THE FOLLOWING CHILDREN: JAMES EVERETT CARROLL JR.

JAMES EVERETT CARROLL WAS THE SIBLING OF BEULAH MATILDA MAE, THOMAS HOWARD, ELLA LOU, CHARLES LINCOLN, EZRA CONNER, FERDINAND TILFORD JR, TWIN INFANT SISTERS, GOLDIE ALICE, LEATRICE GENELLA AND BETTY JO MARCELENE CARROLL.

JAMES EVERETT CARROLL SERVED IN THE US ARMY DURING WWII IN THE MED CORP.

CPL JAMES EVERETT CARROLL

Funeral services for Cpl. James E. Carroll, whose body will arrive in Kingsport, Tuesday at 2:30 p.m., will be held at the West View Baptist Church at 2 p.m., Thursday. The Rev. Donnie Crawford and the Rev. Gerald Price will officiate. Members of the VFW will serve as pallbearers, and the American Legion will have charge of memorial services at the grave. Burial will be in the Carter's Valley Cemetery.

Corporal Carroll died November 20 in Southern France. He was a member of the Medical Corps and had been overseas seven months. He had been in the service since August, 1943. He received his training at Camp Berkley, Texas and Camp Reynolds, Pennsylvania. Corporal Carroll was a member of the famous Sixth Corps which landed at Anzie and participated in the fall of Rome. He was awarded the Purple Heart posthumously. In civilian life, Corporal Carroll was an employee of the Tennessee Eastman Corporation.

Survivors include his mother, Mr. F. T. Carroll of Route 6, Knoxville Highway; five sisters, Mrs. Roy Holt of Rogersville, Mrs. Everett Wright of Marydell, MD, Mrs. Haskell Quarry of Rogersville, Miss Marcelene Carroll of Kingsport, Mrs. Goldie Wolfe of Church Hill; three brothers, Thomas Howard Carroll of Kingsport, Charles Lincoln Carroll of California and Ezra Connor Carroll of Church Hill. He is also survived by one son, James E. Carroll, Jr. and his former wife, Mrs. Mable Carroll Elkins of Bulls Gap, TN; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Alice Dunham of Stony Point.

Burial will be in the Carter's Valley Cemetery with the Weaver-Cooper Funeral Home in charge.

Surviving are his mother, Mrs. F. T. Carroll, widow of the Rev. F. T. Carroll, of Route 6, Knoxville Highway; five sisters: Mrs. Roy Holt of Rogersville; Mrs. Everett Wright of Marydell, Md.; Mrs. Haskell Quarry of Rogersville; Miss Marcelene Carroll of Kingsport; and Mrs. Goldie Wolfe of Church Hill; three brothers: Howard of Kingsport; Charles L. of California and Connor of Church Hill.

Cpl. Carroll is also survived by one son, James E. Carroll JR; his widow, Mrs. Mabel Carroll Elkins of Bulls Gap; and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Alice Dunham of Stony Point.

The body will be removed from the Weaver-Cooper Funeral Home to the Carroll home at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
