Frank W. Brown, 95, of Grand Isle, Vt., formerly of Whitehall, passed away on Saturday, April 17, 2004, at the home of his son, Herman C. Brown, in Grand Isle. Born on Jan. 5, 1909, in Whitehall, he was the son of the late Thomas Murray and Pearl (Carleton) Brown. Frank was a 1928 graduate of Whitehall High School and later a graduate of the General Electric Co. Apprentice Program in Schenectady. He married Vivian M. Clark on July 11, 1934. Frank worked as a machinist toolmaker at the General Electric Co. in Schenectady throughout World War II, and then returned to Whitehall to work the family farm with his father and brother following the war. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Whitehall, the Whitehall Grange No. 622 and the B.P.O.E. Lodge No. 1491 of Whitehall, where he served as Exalted Ruler from 1950 to 1951. Frank was predeceased by his wife, Vivian, in 1997; his brother, George C. in 1985 and his sister, Fanny Ursula (Brown) Bickford, in 1997. He is survived by his two sons and daughter-in-law, Herman C. and his wife, Carolyn, of Grand Isle, Vt., and Neil H. and his wife, Carol of York Beach, Maine; seven grandchildren, Richard C. and his wife, Dixie of Nassau; Kevin M., and his wife, Vilma, of Petersboro, N.H., Herman C. II and his wife, Sara, of Brewer, Maine, Beylan C. of Seattle, Eric P. of San Francisco, Karyn M. Hall and her husband, Josh, of Bennington, N.H., and Colleen A. Tatro and her husband, Dough, of Antrim, N.H.; eight great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be conducted in the summer at the Whitehall United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery in Whitehall."
