Dr. Kevin J. Quinlan, 53, of Fayetteville, NC, husband of Eileen (Mulligan) Quinlan, died on Wednesday (August 12, 2009) at Highsmith Rainey Hospital in Fayetteville after a lengthy illness.

Born in Meriden on October 2, 1955, the son of Russell J. and Barbara (Biglow) Quinlan of Meriden, he had resided in Fayetteville for the past 13 years.

He attended local schools, graduated from Orville Platt High School, Class of 1974, and was a graduate of Trinity College, Class of 1978. He was also a graduate of the University of CT School of Medicine, Class of 1984.

He served his residency in internal medicine in Forrest Hills LaGuardia Hospital in Queens, NY and later did specialty rotations at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury and St. Francis Hospital, Hartford. He worked for ten years in the Emergency Room at Womack Army Medical Center in Fort Bragg, NC, as well as others in Connecticut. He later went on to work for a number of years in internal medicine practices.

Besides his wife and parents, Kevin is survived by his two daughters, Maureen Quinlan of Raleigh, NC, and Megan Quinlan of Fayettevile, NC; two brothers, Neal and his wife Jean of Middletown, and Peter and his wife Kelly of Cheshire; his mother- in-law, Joan Mulligan of Bristol; three nieces: Chelsey, Bailey and Michaela Quinlan; three nephews, Justin Quinlan and Michael and Matthew Reklaitis, also many cousins, including Russell Aitken of Meriden and Dr. William Biglow and his wife Hazel of Ashland, WI. He also leaves his sisters-in-law, Joan Reklaitis and her husband Anthony of Bristol; Kathleen Mulligan of St. Johnsbury, VT; and an aunt, Laura Anne Biglow of Ashland, WI. Kevin was predeceased by his father-in-law, Thomas Mulligan of Bristol.

The funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden, and at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, corner of West Main Street and Lewis Avenue, Meriden, for a Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Monday, August 17, 2009 from 3-7 p.m.
